The Montopolis Drive-In was opened September 19, 1947 with Jean Parker in “Hi, Neighbor” & “13th Street”. The Chief Drive-In opened on the same day. It was operated by Eddie Joseph and Yank Theatres. It was closed in 1959.

A 1954 aerial does not show a drive-in anywhere near the address which is currently listed.
However, there was a drive-in that was at 7201 Levander Loop, Austin, TX. It was near the old Bastrop Highway on the north side of the Colorado River which seems to be the Montopolis Drive-In. By 1965, the drive-in had been demolished. Since then, the highway has changed and the Levander Loop is now the road which sits next to the property.
Today, the property is occupied by a charging station and the Austin Animal Center.

The address of the Fiesta Drive-In was not the same as the Montopolis Drive-In. The original drive-in was demolished by 1965.
The Fiesta Drive-In was located at 1601 Montopolis Drive, Austin, TX. Or, you can use the address printed on the poster in the photo section of Riverside and Montopolis, Austin, TX.
Today, the property is occupied by Riverside Meadows, an apartment complex with no sign of the drive-in remaining.

Maybe this was the end? Billboard, Sept. 4, 1954: “A $35,000 fire destroyed the screen of the Montopolis Drive-In, Austin, Tex. Eddie Joseph, owner, said that the loss was not covered by insurance. Work of rebuilding the screen tower has started.”
