Located in the new St James Street retail & leisure development. The Cineworld Cinema - Dover was opened on 9th March 2018. The largest screen has 237 seats. Opening films included “Black Panther” & “Finding Your Feet”, “Gringo” and “Tomb Raider”.

The Cineworld was to open on February 2nd, but delays in connecting the site to the national grid have held the whole site up. However the cinema is the first business to open.
Another possible first is the the developers hired a drone company to fly both outside and inside the building in a partly built state so that we could see film of the construction in some detail.

An excellent Scope screen. I hope that all the other screens are also full Scope but I have my doubts. For reasons best known to Cineworld many of their screens in recently built cinemas are only 1.85 despite the majority of films being made in Scope.
The Dover Express for 28th June reported the Cineworld had 35,000 customers since opening, which means about 2,300 a week.
The Silver Screen near the library has remained open and is showing films, including classic films at about half the price of the Cineworld.
