The Teatro Victoria was opened in 1927 as a first run movie and live performance theater. It was a palatial Beaux Arts theater with neoclassical touches. The auditorium had two balconies beautifully decorated with columns in white and gold. The illumination was provided with wonderful brass chandeliers.
The Teatro Victoria was for many decades a first class theater. In the 60s the theater began to show second run films. In the 70s it began to deteriorate and ceased to be used for performances. In spite of the quality and nobility of this theater, no attempt was made to preserve it. The end of this old movie palace early 80s was sad: a cheap adult film theater in awful condition.
In 1981, the theater finally closed its doors and was converted to retail. Only the lobby remains, used as a restaurant.
