The Ingalls' Opera House was briefly home to the Electric Theatre which adjoined the live venue beginning in 1908. But as movies took off, the Opera House, itself, would often be a movie venue showing big films including “Birth of a Nation” with the Electric Theatre closing.

The Ingalls' Opera House never made it to the sound era due to competition from the superior for films Crystal Theatre. The Ingalls' Opera House was converted for recreational purposes including bowling, dancing and skating. In 1949, it sold farm implements. The building survived into the 21st Century but was demolished according to local reports.

It’s a different writer – and publisher of the local newspaper – Amos Ingalls.
