Located on the south side of what was once named Charni Road, near Queen’s Road. The Central Cinema was opened on 3rd January 1936. Seating is provided in orchestra and balcony levels. It was equipped with a RCA sound system and was air conditioned from the day it opened.
It still operates as a single screen cinema in 2018, now known as the Central Plaza Cinema.

Remember watching Himmatwala here.The theater downed its shutters in 1980s. After renovation in 1996 the theatre reopened screening Hollywood flicks. The first movie to screen was Dusten Checks In. the theatre was gutted in fire and reopened again after few year
