The Ritz Theatre was opened by W.L. “Pick” Moseley on September 17, 1941 with The Ritz Brothers in “Argentine Nights” & Ted Lewis & His Orchestra in “Is Everybody Happy?”. The Avenue B theatre held 650 patrons with a balcony for African American patrons. In 1946, Nick Lamatia purchased the theatre and it became part of Theatres Service Company of New Orleans. The Ritz Theatre was closed as a Gulf State Theatre property on June 29, 1975 with Lino Ventura in “Three Tough Guys” (aka"Tough Guys"). It was demolished in 1990.

Opening film for the Ritz on September 17, 1941 was “Argentine Nights” supported by Ted Lewis & Orchestra in “Is Everybody Happy” and the Walter Lantz cartoon short, “Syncopated Sioux.” Closing film “Three Tough Guys” on June 29, 1975. Demolition in 1990.
