Dear Charbond & others: I’m seeking memories of the Edmondson Village theater for my book, “Flickering Treasures: Rediscovering Baltimore’s Forgotten Movie Theaters.” Please contact me at , or visit my FB page for the book: www.facebook.com/flickeringtreasures. Thanks, Amy Davis
I grew up downtown, and only remember going to this theater once. It was around 1959, for a showing of “Shane”, which had originally had a 1953 release.
Here is a photo circa 1980s:

The Edmondson Village Theatre had a seating capacity of 1,203. The small marquee on the side of the building was over the entrance to the bowling lanes and the “Dugout” snack bar (they were flooded out in 1972 by Hurricane Agnes). The second floor of the building included the Manager’s office, a children’s party room, employee lounge as well as the projection room, generator room and screening room.
I grew up in Edmondson Village and saw quiet a few movies as a kid. In addition to the movie theatre, there was also a bowling alley beaneath it.

has an picture of the theatre.
On page 25 of Herbert H. Harwood’s book, “Baltimore and Its Streetcars” (Quadrant Press, NY, 1984), there is a sharp half-page photo of the Edmondson Village Theater taken in January, 1951. The marquee features Ingrid Bergman’s “Joan of Arc” (1948) and Debbie Reynolds' “Two Weeks With Love” (1950), both on their second runs.
Unfortunately, I do not have the technical capability to scan or post this great pic, but if Charles or someone else who has access to Harwood’s book can share it with all, that would be terrific. Good luck!
