Located in Longtown, Cumbria, about 7 miles north of Carlisle. Benson’s Picture Palace and was in business by 1913. It is listed as the Picture Hall by the early-1920’s but still run by W. Benson. It appears to have been renamed the Lochinvar Cinema in about 1942 and was then run by A. Coghlan. Originally with some 350 seats, that had been reduced to 225 by 1959.
The Cumberland News reported that it was due to close on 30th April 1961 but it appears to have had a last minute reprieve following the news. It eventually closed in October 1965 and had a very short spell with bingo until that December. It has been a Spar supermarket for a number of years with the gap between the Hall and corner property filled in to provide more space.
