Five Points is at the confluence of St. Clair Avenue, E. 152nd Street and Ivanhoe Road in the Collinwood neighborhood of Cleveland. In 1920, the Five Points Theatre launched. The silent-era theatre had a five-unit Barton organ but not air conditioning. As a result, the theatre operated as a Fall-Spring house.
In 1927, competition came from the nearby New Plaza Theatre. For the next year, both theatres struggled for survival and made an unusual business detente. The Five Points Theatre and New Plaza Theatre decided to merge operations in 1928 and decided that the newer Plaza Theatre was the building to use. The decision was sound as the Plaza Theatre continued its run for more than three decades.

“Why was it called 5 points theatre?”
Called Five Point because the intersection Of St. Clair and E. 152nd street had another road cutting off it at a 45 degree angle. See google maps for a visual.
