Prior to its becoming the Abbey, the theater was known as the Keystone, according to the 1932 city directory. Should be an AKA.
Newspaper listings listed it as Abby. Listings for Keystone started in 1923. closed as Abby in 1949
abby theatre closed because the screen could not fit cinemascope that came out in the late 40s. I have a picture of the abby theatre in 1952 still with its markey. I was a projectionist in Cleveland. sonny kern 216-990-5209
anyone that has a picture of the abby theatre please call sonny kern at 216-990-5209. PLEASE
The Abbey was a furniture store by 1952. The store, Perme’s, closed in the fall of that year and Imperial Furniture took its place.
