Comet Theater

The Comet Theater located on W. Belmont Avenue near N. Wilton Avenue in the Lake View neighborhood was in operation by 1910. Chicago Tribune listings show it in business until at least May 1916. The theater stood across the street from the Julian Theater. In the 1950’s, the space was a travel agency; it was last occupied is a vintage military memorabilia store. Some of the original theater detail was still visible in the interior.

It was demolished in 2025 and an apartment block is planned for the site.
