Located just to the south of the Florida-Alabama state line, the Palms Drive-In was often listed as being in Atmore, AL. The Palms Drive-In was opened on June 29, 1950 with Preston Foster in “The Big Cat”. It was operated by the Martin Theatres chain. It had a capacity for 304-cars and the screen was 36ft x 50ft. Two months after opening, on August 30, 1950, the screen was destroyed by Hurricane Baker. A new superstructure screen was installed and the drive-in reopened on September 8, 1950.
Later, the Palms Drive-In was taken over by John Smith, who was also the manager of the Strand Theatre, Atmore, AL. The capacity was increased to 400-cars and in 1955 it was equipped with CinemaScope. The Palms Drive-In was closed in 1963.

A closer address is 11040 FL-97, McDavid, Florida.
The drive-in was located close to the intersection of FL-97 and Greenland Road sitting near the NE corner. It’s remnants can be seen in a 1981 aerial.
Today, the property is covered with trees with no remains of the drive-in visible.
