The Argyle Theater, located in the Uptown neighborhood on N. Broadway at W. Argyle Street, in what is today the New Chinatown/Little Saigon community, was in operation by 1913 when it’s listed in the Chicago Tribune as hosting an amateur play performance. During 1914-1915 it is listed in the Tribune’s movie listings. In 1916, it’s listed both in Variety and Moving Picture world as having union issues, with a shooting, as well as being damaged in a suspicious fire that year. By 1922, an auto dealership is listed at the address. Today, the site is a parking lot.

The “Building Permits” column of the January 8, 1910, issue of The Economist listed a brick theater, 38x100 feet, to be built at 4930-4932 N. Evanston Avenue (renamed Broadway in 1913.) The architect was C. W. Stevens.
In the
60's the property was Yarnall-Todd Chevrolet, then Arnie Yusim Chevrolet70s-`80s, and finally Sun Chevrolet until 1992.
