Located on the southeast corner of Jull Street and Church Street. The first screenings in the original Mechanics Institute were in October 1904. A new Mechanics Inistute was built on the sams site in 1936. Movies were screened in the new Mechanics Institute as well. A simple Gardens was opened across the road from the Mechanics Institute in 1954. Movie screenings ceased in September 1961,(and in the gardens in 1962 or 1964?). The Mechanics Institute is still there, but no longer screens movies!?
