Britannia Theatre

The Britannia Theatre was built for and operated by the J.D. Williams Amusement Company, who also operated the adjacent Melba Theatre. It opened on 27th June 1912. The top of the façade had a stone figure of Britannia flanked on each side by a lion. Seating was provided for 700 in the stalls and 400 in the circle.

The Britannia Theatre was closed in 1935 and was demolished for shops to be built on the site.
