Hoyts Richmond Cinema

Located in the east inner city Melbourne district of Richmond. The Richmond Cinema was opened in 1920. It had a low, single storey façade, while the auditorium had seating provided in stalls and circle levels. The auditorium ceiling was in lattice-work and the steel support rods were exposed. It was later taken over by Hoyts Theatres, retaining the ‘Cinema’ name rather than being re-named ‘Theatre’. It was closed in 1959.

The façade survives slightly modified, while the auditorium is still there, with the building in use as a Barbeque store.
