Bunavista Drive-In

John L. Fagan launched the Bunavista Drive-In in April of 1949 and had competition from Video Independent Theatres Circuit which had the Plains Drive-In. The Bunavista Drive-In was named after the town that actually developed in World War II to get employees to a rubber factory important to the War effort. Bunavista has since been incorporated within Borger.

@dallasmovietheaters Johnny Fagan was the owner. C.M. was the projectionist. Please check your facts.

The fact is Johnny Fagan put up the money for the theatre. My dad, C.M. Shearer, built from the ground up, cleaned, repaired, sold tickets, made burgers, ordered candy and cigarettes, kept painted repaired, and ran the projectors ordered the film and all supplies. Deposited the money, did the hiring and firing. So yes dad was a projectionist.

You can still see the outline, ramps, and remnants of the ticket booth and concession stand. The projection booth seems to have collapsed.
