Down but not out, according to the LA Times in this story dated 8/14/32:
BLAST WRECKS THEATER
Borger (Tex) Aug.13 – A dynamite blast wrecked the interior of the Rex Theater here early today, causing damage estimated at more than $5,000.
They would have gotten a bang out of the movie, I guess.

Nice vintage photo Don.Also Don if you see this post, a photo you posted on the TEXAN THEATRE with unknown people I believe that the man on the right was “TEX RITTER” singer and movie star, also John Ritters father.
I thought it looked like him Don, and the “TEX” and TEXAN THEATRE conection there.
From the 1920s in Borger a very busy street that captured a view of the Rex Theater sign.
Throughout the years, the Rex Theatre was destroyed three times, two of which were from fires and the other being an explosion. The Rex Theatre was destroyed by a fire on June 16, 1926 and again on June 6, 1945, and was once destroyed by an explosion on August 14, 1932 caused by dynamite. The Rex continued to operate into the 1950s.
