Located on Kalverstraat, today a very busy narrow pedestrianised shopping street in the centre of Amsterdam. The Theatre Pathe was opened on 15th July 1911. It was designed by an architect named Breman. Seating was provided in orchestra, balcony and loges.
In 1925 it was re-modelled in an Art Deco style to the plans of architect Gerard F. Mastenbroek and re-opened on 11th April 1925 as the Corso Cinema with Andre Menist in “Visages d'Enfants” (Kinderkarakters).
In later years it went over to screening soft porn films and closed on 3rd January 1980 with Jurgen Enz, Petra Harn and Uta Paris in “Rokkenjagers in Tirol” (Skirt Hunters in the Tirol). The cinema was converted into the Noordzee Visrestaurant (North Sea Fish Restaurant). In 2016 a Van Haren shoe shop operates at this address.
