The Bijou Biograph Theatre was opened on 12th October 1906. It was located on Damstraat, beside a narrow alley, and was a long narrow cinema. It was operated by an American, Andrew Rawson Jennings. By January 1916 it had been re-named Damstraat Bioscoop. In April 1920 it was re-named New York Bioscoop. It was closed on 17th May 1924.

Today the building is in use as a café on this very busy street in central Amsterdam.
