In Grantown-on-Spey, Highlands, the Cinema House was opened prior to 1927 when it was operated by J.G. Anderson of Grantown-on-Spey. It is still listed in the 1934 Kinematograph Year Book(KYB). In the 1937 edition of KYB it had been re-named Picture House with 450 seats and still operated by J.G. Anderson. It was equipped with a Morrison-Electric sound system. There was a café attached to the cinema.
In the 1940 KYB, the owner was shown as Invergordan Picture House Ltd. of Inverness. The cinema had 463 seats.
(A “Cinema House” was listed in the 1931-1934 KYB’s, which could have been this cinema under an earlier name.)
By the 1953 edition ownership had transferred to Caledonian Associated Cinemas Ltd. At that time, the cinema had 396 seats. The proscenium was 22ft wide, the stage was 22ft deep and there were two dressing rooms.
The Picture House was still open in 1954, but had closed by 1963.
By 1998 it had become home to the local branch of the Royal British Legion.
