The last posted ad for the Douglas was June 7,1953 in the Chicago Sun-Times. The features were “Bad and the Beautiful” and “Outpost in Malaya”

No date is given, but the records of the American Terra Cotta Company list the Douglas Theatre, 22nd and Sawyer, Chicago, among the projects using the company’s products. The architect was Ralph C. Harris.

The Douglas was built in 1910 by Edward Kounovsky, who later opened the nearby Parkway. It was sold to Brunhild & Young in 1923.

If this is the one I am thinking of, I believe it was a dance hall or ballroom of some sort in the 80’s-90’s somewhere.
