Nearby Theaters
This North Lawndale neighborhood theater, located near Douglas Park (hence its name), opened in 1914 and sat just over 700. It was located on W. 22nd Street (later renamed W. Cermak Road) near S. Sawyer Avenue. The theater was first operated by the Brunhild and Young circuit, which also operated such theaters as the President Theatre, the Temple Theatre and the Shakespeare Theatre during the 1910’s.
In its later years, the Douglas Theater was part of the small Goodman and Harrison chain (which also included circa-1950 the Marshall Square Theatre, Illington Theatre and West Theatre). The Douglas Theater closed during the 1950’s.

It is still standing.
If this is the one I am thinking of, I believe it was a dance hall or ballroom of some sort in the 80’s-90’s somewhere.

The Douglas was built in 1910 by Edward Kounovsky, who later opened the nearby Parkway. It was sold to Brunhild & Young in 1923.
No date is given, but the records of the American Terra Cotta Company list the Douglas Theatre, 22nd and Sawyer, Chicago, among the projects using the company’s products. The architect was Ralph C. Harris.
