Opened on 21st May 1927 in the city of Roubaix in France, this was the third biggest cinema in France after the Gaumont Palace and the Rex in Paris. It was designed by architects J. & A. Barbiton. It was remodeled in 1951 in a Streamline Moderne style to the plans of architect M. Edouard Lardillier, reopening on 26th November 1951 with the film “Paris Chante Toujours starring Edith Piaf, Charles Guetry & Yves Montand. In 1953 it was equipped with CinemaScope and stereophonic sound, opening with Richard Burton in "The Robe” on 16th December 1953. Singer Jaques Brel gave his last concert in the Colisee in early-1967. From the 1970’s due to the growth of television it became a theatre for live performances and still is.
