Coliseum Theatre

Located in Houghton le Spring, County Durham, on the same side of the street as the Empire Theatre and former Gaiety/Grand/Essoldo/Classic. The Coliseum Theatre was opened on 3rd August 1921. It was operated by John Lishman and Norman Robinson. The proscenium was 28ft wide. In 1929 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. The Coliseum Theatre was closed on 24th January 1960.

The building was converted into a Shoppers Paradise supermarket, later becoming a Medicare chemist shop, and by 2015 it is a Superdrug store.
