the Grand theatre placed its first ad on November 23rd, 1929 and renamed 18th St. in 1941.

This theater opened in 1945 and closed in 1961.

I enjoyed going to this theater. As is true of neighborhood movies houses it showed double features,a newsreel and a cartune. It seemed that they enjoyed showing singalong cartunes. It was a real fun place. No X rated shows here.

Have any theater groups in Erie ever thought of restoring this theater to show old cartoons and newsreels? I have no idea what it would take to do this but I think it would be better than using it for storage. I suppose one has to be contented with the fact that it is used for something and hasn’t been torn down.
