The Colby Drive-In sat on the west side of the town and is now partially covered by a large building that sits on the south side of the property. It was opened by 1951 when it was operated by Don Phillips.

Today, a football field has been etched into where the drive-in once stood. However, you can still see the general outline and arguably old remnants of the entrance which appears to be connected to W. 5th Street on the north side of the property.

An item datelined Colby in the March 4, 1950 issue of Boxoffice said that the 350-car drive-in being built for Don Phillips was slated to open on May 23. The project had been designed by architect Truman Schlupp of Kansas City. I haven’t been able to discover if the target date for completion was met.
