Located in Rye, East Sussex. The Kino Rye is a conversion of a former library and adult learning centre. It opened on 19th January 2015 with “Testament of Youth”. Seating is provided for 98 in the Red room and 46 in the Blue room. It is operated by the same company who operate the Kino Hawkhurst and since July 2017 they took over the Shortwave Cinema, Bermondsey, London and re-named it Kino Bermondsey. The cinema has a licenced bar and a café.

In addition to the two screens there is also The Silver Room, a flexible space, with a drop-down screen, that is available for private hire. Judging by my visit, on Friday 4th September 2015, the operators are certainly making the most of the two permanent screens, with shows starting at about 10am (“Gemma Bovary”, the film I saw, started at 10.30am) and seven different films playing that day alone.
