Martin Theatres opened the Marbro Drive-In on November 5, 1964, with in-car heaters standard equipment, making it a year round operation. With room for 540 cars and a 120-foot screen, it was billed as the largest drive-in in the area. For the action fans, they had William Holden staring in the first-run “The 7th Dawn" and rounding out the double bill for the Elvis Presley aficionados was “Girls! Girls! Girls!”.
Talk about diverse programming. In 1965, the Marbro Drive-In screened “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World". After four “Mad World” days they had a Bowery Boys quadruple feature, which ran for three days, taking film festivals to a new level.
The Marbro Drive-In closed in 1985.

Uploaded a couple of google maps images of the site as of 2026. The Marquee is still out front, surprisingly after over 40 years being abandoned. The concession building is still on site as well, showing lots of deterioration. An ATM Knoxville Credit Union business listing is incorrectly placed on site right at the concession building. The front entrance is heavily overgrown, but from the satellite image you can still see the faint outlines of the ramps on site.
