The smallish and now-forgotten Hartford Theatre in Hartford, Wisconsin opened in a 1922 garage that had been a Gray automobile dealership operated by Ed. T. Rippey and his partner. (The “Rippey’s Garage” namestone is still visible at this writing and must have been hidden by the theatre’s marquee). The Hartford Theatre was operating prior to 1941 and continued until at least 1950.

A 2013 request to apply stucco over it was rejected by the City’s historic-preservation panel. It has been used for retailing since the theatre closed.
