14 S. Oak Street looks to be a fairly modern building. Its facade is set back a bit from the sidewalk and there is a balcony at the second floor. It’s possible that a new front was built onto an old building, but it’s also possible that the Valentine Theatre building has been demolished and replaced.
This theater was open by 1913. It was located in the Knights of Columbus building, which was constructed sometime after 1907. The present building appears to be from the late ‘50s or early '60s, and is one story shorter. We should probably list this as demolished.
The 1914-1915 American Motion Picture Directory mistakenly lists this as the Ballentine Theatre at 16 Oak Street. The Majestic and the Theatorium are the only other houses listed.
The address does seem to have been 16, although we have to correct building.
