The Rainbow Theatre was opened in December 1919, designed by architectural firm Sparklin & Childs. It was an African-American theatre, and was closed in 1925 to be used as a church. In 1926 it was in use as a garage, which lasted until 1936.
In 1936 it was remodelled to the plans of architect David Harrison, and reopened as the Lenox Theatre on December 25, 1936. It was closed in 1964, and became a church.
