Located near the junction with Canning Street, the Midland Picture House opened on 6th March 1916, the fourth cinema opened by Shankill Road grocer Joe McKibben. At some time the seating capacity was reduced to 500, to allow for more comfort. It had a stage that was only 8 feet deep and there were two dressing rooms.

The Midland Picture House was destroyed by German bombs during the Blitz in 1941, when it received a direct hit. In the late-1990’s the site was occupied by Bairds Music and the Ulster Bank.
