The Palace 20 opened on May 22, 1997 and was operated by Gulf States Theatres. The cinema could accommodate 4,500 patrons and replaced the Elmwood Cinema 4 located at the same address. AMC took over the cinema in 2002 and the IMAX auditorium was added in 2010. This is one of the top grossing cinemas in the New Orleans market. It offers all the amenities of a first class megaplex. Due to the installation of larger seats, the seating capacity has been reduced to 4,094-seats

AMC’s web site bills this multiplex as the AMC Elmwood Palace 20, and lists it as being in Harahan, Louisiana, even though it is not within the corporate limits of that city but in Elmwood, an unincorporated, census-designated place adjacent to Harahan, with which it shares a zip code.
This web page has the obituary of T. G. Solomon of Gulf States Theatres, original owners of the Palace 20.
This opened on May 22nd, 1997. Grand opening ad posted.
This theatre and the other Palaces built in New Orleans caused the closing of 8 multiplex cinemas in 2000
Please update, total seats 4094, lost seats due to Dolby Cinema Screen and a row in the imax house.
I’ve uploaded photos taken today in the photos sections, staying next door on vacation. Due very limited time and spending time with friends, I was unable to catch a film, so wasn’t able to get photos of some of the cinemas.
