Charlotte Harbor Drive-In

The Charlotte Harbor Drive-In opened on February 3, 1953, featuring the 1952 western “Hangman’s Knot” with Randolph Scott and Donna Reed. It had a capacity for 300 cars. The theatre was opened by S. Rubin, Ernest Mitts, and Herman Bluckman & ABC Theatrical Enterprises from New York. In 1955 it was operated by Charles W. Tracy. It was sold to Louis V. Desguin and his son, Victor in 1958. During the 15 years that it was open, Methodist Church services were held at the drive-in. The drive-in closed in 1968 and was demolished. The Town and Country Plaza was built on the former drive-in site.

Desguin also operated the New Theatre in Punta Gorda and an African-American Theatre in East Punta Gorda.
