The Audubon Drive-In opened on November 2, 1949 with William Holden in “Streets of Larado”. It parked 500 cars. It was operated by Malco Theatres. The drive-in closed October 4, 1959 with Victor Mature in “The Big Circus” & Steven Marlo in “The Young Captives”. There is a Chevrolet Car Dealership where the drive-in once stood.

it closed in the early 2000s and it had 2 screens.
This was on US 41 not Hwy 41a.
Please update.
Checking the local newspaper ads, it closed 10/11/59. Earlier that year, the screen was damaged in a windstorm which might have led to its closure.
The Audubon opened November 2, 1949 with “Streets of Laredo.” It reopened for the 1950 season (ad in photos). The drive-in was just out of Audubon State Park. The theater was offered for sale April 12, 1959 and was decimated by a July 31, 1959 storm. But they fixed the screen closing at the end of a 10-year leasing agreement on October 4, 1959 - permanently - with “The Big Circus” and “The Young Captives.”
