Galaxy Cinemas Owen Sound

A multiplex located in a strip mall. The Cinemas at Grey County Mall was opened on December 26, 1986. It initially had three screens. Two more screens were added in June 1994. It was renamed Galaxy Cinemas 5 on May 7, 1999. It briefly went back to 3-screens on January 18, 2002. It became a 7-screen theatre on June 28, 2002.

This opened in the late 1990’s with three cinemas and two more screens around 2000. Rebuilt 2002.

The Galaxy Cinemas opened on June 28, 2002. Its opening movies include Mr. Deeds, Hey Arnold! The Movie, Minority Report, Lilo & Stitch, The Bourne Identity, Scooby-Doo, and Star Wars Episode II–Attack of the Clones. Men in Black II opened on Wednesday after.

  • December 26th, 1986, opened as Cinemas at Grey County Mall with three screens

  • Early 1990 owner: MDPM Entertainment

  • June 3rd, 1994, 5 screens

  • May 7th, 1999, renamed Galaxy Cinemas 5

  • 2000 taken over by Galaxy Cinemas

  • January 18th, 2002, down to three screens to make room for the new cinemas

  • June 28th, 2002, reopens with seven screens

The Cinemas at Grey County Mall opened its doors on December 26, 1986 with three screens. Two more screens were added in June 1994, renamed Galaxy Cinemas 5 on May 7, 1999, and became part of Galaxy Cinemas in 2000. It briefly returned as a triplex on January 18, 2002 before reopening as a 7-screener on June 28, 2002.
