Vandal Theatre

The Latah County Historical Society lists this early theater on the walking tour of downtown Moscow. The building was built around 1916 and previously housed the Strand Theatre until Milton Kenworthy opened it as the Vandal Theatre.

It closed around 1926 when Mr. Kenworthy moved to his new theater at 508 South Main, however Sanborn Maps listed a theater here at least until 1928.

The owner was MILBURN Kenworthy – he purchased the Strand on 1 March, 1918. He arrived in Moscow the previous day. He had been touring the country with his vaudeville troupe “ The Kenworthy Players”! The location currently houses a tattoo parlour. The Kenworthy Theatre on Main opened on 24 January, 1926, following a remodel upon purchase by Milburn in late 1925. He built the Nu Art Theatre on the same block in 1935.

I added a CT page for the Liberty former Orpheum Theatre, but the Liberty Theatre link under Nearby Theaters just goes back to the home page. I did not keep the original research but may be able to find it again if the page gets updated by CT Admins. I have 2 photos to add too.
