The Dixieland Theatre was a Negro burlesque and movie theatre. It opened in 1913 and was managed by John Miller who also managed the Crescent Theatre across the street. Their advertisements listed “Pretty Girls, Funny Comedians and the latest in Moving Pictures”.
In 1920 Miller closed the Dixieland Theatre and opened the Milo Theatre in the next block. Since, the theatre has been demolished.
Any additional information on the Dixieland Theatre would be appreciated.
