The Springdale Cinemas opened on June 18, 1974 with 6 auditoriums. It was operated by AMC. In 1990 Carmike Cinemas took over operations and it was expanded to eleven auditoriums on April 21, 2000. It was taken over by Marquee Theatres on February 1, 2002. They closed the Springdale Cinemas 11 in 2005. It was demolished in January 2021.

The building housing this multi-plex theater was finally demolished the first week of January 2021, after being empty for 15 years.
Grand opening ad posted
Springfield Mall couldn’t keep up with the neighboring Bel Air Mall. The two had many of the same stores but the Bel Air had a better location and room for expansion.
