The Auburn-Opelika Drive-In was opened on September 11, 1947. Car capacity was listed at 300. It was destroyed 1961 when a fire broke out. It was rebuilt and continued to operate until it closed on September 5, 1977 with Piper Laurie in “Ruby” & Jacques Bernard in “The Room of Chains”. It has been demolished and there is an office park where the drive-in once stood.

Any info about the fire? It probably had a very short-closure because it was still operating throughout the entirety of 1961.
The fire occurred on April 3, 1961
