The Lathan Theatre was open in 1945 with seating listed at 500. The theatre was closed in the mid-1950’s. The building has since been retrofitted for retail.

The Lathan was owned and operated by Edmond I. Hawkins who owned the Hawkins Theater in Newellton, LA, a larger theater in Jackson, MS as well as theaters in Arkansas. The projectionist was Emerson Hawkins who lived above the Lathan until his death in the 1970’s.
