Sadly this little Multiplex closed near the beginning of August 2022. The landlord supposedly raised up the rent and the owners declined to pay the higher rental on the building. It’s now for lease and I believe all the movie equipment has been cleared out along with the seats and everything else. It was a nice inexpensive option to the two multiplexes in Rockland County. The regal cinema in Nanuet is possibly closing in January or February 2023. Leaving only AMC is the lone multiplex and the 98-year-old single screen Lafayette Theatre in Suffern New York as theaters in Rockland County
please update closed again
New City Cinema, its last incarnation, closed in late July/early August.
Opened with Walt Disney’s “The Ugly Dachshund” and “Winnie The Pooh And The Honey Tree”.
February 15th, 1991 grand opening ad as Cinema 6 also in the photo section. 2 cinemas in 1981.
April 8th, 1966 grand opening ad as Town in the photo section.
Jack, I use to clean the screens at this theatre. You cant believe what an abortion it is.
I can’t figure how there was an annex of retail space. The theater is in the corner of the mall. Where did they take over space?
I added a picture of the entrance.
On November 1, 2013 this theatre will be re-named The BowTie Fine Arts Theatre and will become Rockland County’s theatre for art, independent and foreign films. This makes sense as, in addition to the nearby AMC Palisades Theatres, Regal Theatres is opening a new 12-plex in the Nanuet Mall. Nice alternative programming. Already been digitally converted.
The theater opened as a single called the Town – then a second auditorium was added in former retail space. The original was split into four, and the second split into two, totaling six.
Soon will be on the Management of Bow Tie cinemas
