According to the Idaho Falls Post-Register, the Rex Theatre was built around 1907 and was a grocery store before being converted to a theatre. The theatre was listed in the Polk Directory in 1928. William Hansen, a long-time resident and funeral director, operated the Rex Theatre from 1929 to 1934.
The Rex Theatre was listed in the Film Daily Yearbook of 1950-51 with 250 seats.
In 1954 it was reported that the long vacant building would be remodeled into a jewelry store. In 2013 Economy Printing was the most recent tenant of the building.
