Garfield Theatre exterior

The Garfield Theater stood on 5th Avenue in Park Slope. It closed in the 1950’s after having served the neighborhood’s moviegoing needs for a number of years.

The theater was razed for a gas station was closed years ago. The old gas station is fenced in and is now used as a parking lot.

The Garfield Theatre seated 593 people.

The marquee in the above photo lists “Captain Kidd” with Randolph Scott, “Check Your Guns” with Eddie Dean, Cartoon Show, and a Serial. Kids probably paid .20 cents, an adult a quarter.
