The National General Cinemas chain opened the Brentwood Cinema on January 22, 1969 with Elizabeth Taylor in “Secret Ceremony”. It was located in the Brentwood Village Shopping Centre in Calgary, with seating for 626 in the single auditorium. Canadian Theatres later took over operation of the Brentwood, followed by Odeon in 1978 and Cineplex Odeon in 1984.

The Brentwood Cinema closed in 1987.

This cinema opened on January 22, 1969, by National General Cinemas, opening with “Secret Ceremony.” It was operated by Famous Players from 1970 to 1973 before being sold to Canadian Theatres. Canadian Theatres then merged with Odeon Theatres of Canada in January 1977, becoming Canadian Odeon. On June 28, 1984, it merged with Cineplex to become Cineplex Odeon. The cinema closed on the evening of March 26, 1987, closing with “Heat.”
