Cascades Drive-In

The Cascades Drive-In was the first drive-in theatre to open in Canada. It opened August 30, 1946 with Walter Brennan in “Home in Indiana”. It had a car capacity listed at 800. It was operated by National Drive-In Theatre. The drive-in closed in 1980.

According to this website, the this drive-in was known as the Cascades, opened in 1946, and had an 800 car capacity.

i have it being owned by W.Steele in 1956.

The link provided by CSWalczak is correct. The Cascades opened on August 30, 1946 and closed in 1980, per the info in the link.

The Cascades was demolished long ago and is now the site of condos.

This was the 2nd drive-in to open in Canada with the first drive-in opening on July 10th, 1946 in Stony Creek near Hamilton, ON. The Cascades opened on August 30th, 1946. Grand opening ad posted.
