A document about the New Castle Historic District prepared for the NRHP says that the Earle Theatre’s address was 2-4 West Fifth Street. The site is now occupied by a 3-story brick condominium.

It still operated well into the 1960s! Probably 1970 as Let It Be opened there. I remember seeing Planet of the Apes on a Saturday afternoon there when I was a kid. What fun having a theater there was.

The Earle closed in late 1977, early 1978. It was owned by my grandparents, Grace and John Koczak. They closed when my grandmother got cancer, and she passed in 1978. I have many happy memories of the Earle, it was practically my second home…

The only photo of the Earle Theatre I’ve been able to find on the Internet is one taken during its demolition in 1983. It was published in the “Images of America” series book New Castle Revisited, by Michael Connolly (Google Books preview.)
