News About This Theater

Originally known as the Carver Theater, this theater opened prior to 1940 and served primarily the African-American population of the Lincolnville area of St. Augustine. It became the Community Theater in 1951 and did not operate on Sundays.

The theater has been closed and roofless for many years; only the exterior walls and the projection booth remain. In 2012, a St. Augustine couple announced plans to convert the space into an open-air airdome type dine-and-view cinema.
