The Starlite Drive-In was opened on May 6, 1949 with Dennis Morgan in “Two Guys from Texas”. It was operated by Roy L. Champion. It was still open in 1965, but had closed by 1966.

I think it was run by Boykin for part of the 70s & 80s. At some point we stopped returning lobby materials from the Taylor to National Screen Service in Charlotte and forwarded them to the Starlite. I think that I read somewhere that there was a fire in the screen storage area that destroyed thousands of dollars worth of posters.
Approx. address for this drive-in was 1798 U.S. 301. Most ramps are still there.
The street name should be Goldsboro Street Southwest. Google Street View lists the address as 1808 Goldsboro Street Southwest, but 1798 may be closer to the actual address. US 301 was probably rerouted not long after this theater opened. The site is now at the rear of the White’s International truck dealership on the corner of Ward Boulevard and US 301 South (which bypassed Goldsboro Street – the old US 301).

A better address is 1723 Goldsboro St S, Wilson, NC as this is right next to the entrance.
The entrance road still exists along with part of the ramps, but it is otherwise demolished.
